Now he is taking us back to the future with RA Music, the healing frequencies of the Universe straight form the pyramids of the Pharaohs. Stepping back from our modern standardized music, adopted in 1924 to “harmonize” all our instruments, Alan uses a natural system of frequencies rediscovered in the Kings Chamber of the Great Pyramid of Giza to create healing music for our troubled world.

Alan's RA Music is based on RA Mathematics developed by Wes Bateman from years of study and measurements taken from the Great Pyramid of Giza. That is, RA Music is based on the natural frequencies that the ancients built into many of their sacred sites to create powerful resonances and echos. Literally the sound frequencies of the natural world were a fundamental part of the ancients’ sacred structures. And Alan is creating ways to bring them back into our lives.
According to an e-music article Bateman “found that the structures contained the mathematical components of the Egyptian musical scale, and that all of the proportions of the pyramid reflected the geometry of its space and sound.” On the RA Music website and in an e-music article there are accounts that unofficially prove the RA Math at the Great Pyramid as well as documentation of experiments at a number of Mayan temple with similar outcomes.
Alan explains,
“RA music has discovered that Mother Nature has a different "Standard Frequency". When whales, dolphins and birds sing they are on a "Natural Standard" We found that all of nature is in tune with itself. The living world, separate from what humans have chosen as music, is all in harmony with nature already. The "A" note in RA music has a frequency centered on "A"=424 cycles per second, this turns out to be correct all over the world.
So when we say the note "A"=440 cycles per second, we mean that the total number of up and down waves in the length of one second. 1s 440 The RA note "A"=424 has 424 up and down waves in one second.
In order for the waves of the sound of the to mesh with the waves of your body, they have to be the same family of "cycles per second".
In May of 2007, I met Alan at the World Sound Healing Conference, sponsored by the Sound and Consciousness Institute in San Francisco. The experience of RA Music was in the Sound Bubble, an audio system Alan created that totally immerses you in sound. It gave me glimpses into the far reaching potential of this system in the realm of Sound Healing/Vibrational Healing
I had wanted to be among the first to share information about RA music and Alan’s work. Over several encounters, Alan made valiant attempts to help me understand the process. Literally, I sat spell bound--and out of my league-- as he explained his journey from our standard-man-made A440 tuning system to RA-natural A424 tuning system. But in truth, my grasp of higher mathematics and physical sciences is too minimal, as well as out of date.
Although, I can’t comfortably relate the technical side of his work, there are several good sites that can give you in-depth explanations including RA Music.org.
But along with the technical explanations, Alan was also very generous in sharing his own story.
Alan comes to this juncture in time with an impressive array of talent and awards. He considers himself foremost an artist, though he is considered a technical genius.
Starting as a visual artist, early on he was coaxed into filling in for a rock and roll band and the focus of his art was changed forever. He expanded his horizons and world view traveling with groups that opened for the big bands like Paul Revere and the Raider. Having always been interested in how things work, his fascination with the technical side of creating and performing music led to a stint as the Touring Stage Technician for the jazz fusion band Weather Report.
Later in California, by chance Pax, a motorcycle riding/film splicing friend, overheard a conversation of Star Trek people looking for someone to create the sound of Warp Speed and immediately Pax volunteered Alan. From creating the sound of Warp Speed. you might say his career went into Warp Drive. He has been sound designer for films from The Little Mermaid, to Hunt for Red October, to Bram Stokers Dracula. He has created musical score for feature films like Big Trouble in Little China and a number of the Halloween and other horror films. And there were lots of others in between. Not surprisingly, sound design for Back to the Future II and III are among his accomplishments.
His technical expertise has led him beyond movie scores and sound effects to sound design for commercials, theme parks, TV shows and educational films. Is it only fair, since he has scared the begebies out of us all those years, that he has now moved into the realm of Sound Healing.
As we all have, there were some ups and downs in this journey. It was in one of those spaces between up and down, Alan was introduced to the work of Wes Bateman and his book Rods of Amon RA. Bateman’s work at the Great Pyramid of Giza lead to a system that he call Ra Mathematics in honor of site of discovery and the ancient Sun God Ra.
Today I found a synopsis of Wes Bateman’s work on RA Mathematics that Alan told me about last year. While much of it might as well be Egyptian to me, please check it out for yourself.
Working with RA Mathematics and the work of Bateman, Alan began exploring the frequencies it implies and what he calls the Natural A or Ra A, that is A424 tuning system. Re-calibrating his keyboard to A424, he found his favorite music sounded as though it were being played on a harpsichord, the sound of music before the A440 standardization.
Taking his rediscoveries to a new hight, he explored those effects in ancient sites, investigated the creation of sound studios for the production of RA music, and built the Sound Bubble in order to find ways to validate and distribute this new/old way for us to experience music.
From this knowledge, RA Music was born, and a patented software system created that will convert “modern” music to RA Music, music tuned to Nature herself and to our well being.
Alan, this writing has been a long time coming, but you do make lasting impressions along with beautiful music.
